Description:

Listen is an auditory training game developed by the University of California Riverside (UCR) Brain Game Center for Mental Fitness and Well-being, a research unit specializing in brain fitness methodologies and applications.

Listen incorporates principles of perceptual learning and auditory neuroscience within a reward-centered gaming framework that encourages program adherence and sustains training effectiveness. In this gaming experience, players assume control of a wisp tasked with navigating through challenging obstacles by responding appropriately to specific sound cues to collect energy from environmental objects. These sound cues are designed based on linguistic primitives and sound characteristics that stimulate neurons in the brain's auditory cortex selectively. Although initially distinguishable, the game's adaptive algorithms evaluate each player's ability to differentiate between sounds and tailor training to their unique performance threshold.
